We offer the benefit of our years of experience with starting up equipment in extremely difficult circumstances for the purpose of avoiding the problems that make the commissioning phase cost almost as much as the equipment acquisition. We have seen it all, and invariably the cost of properly inspecting and correcting problems before they are shipped to the field would have been paid back with an absolutely whopping interest dividend - had it been done. Most of the really expensive problems that we have been called in to deal with could have been prevented before leaving the Vendors' facility through workmanship inspection and functional testing. Is it actually designed for 50 Hz operation? Is that Pipe really clean inside, or just nicely painted on the outside? Is it really unobstructed? Is that cable capable of passing the required signal at 1000'? Are the electronics really conformally coated per the specification? Won't that Control Panel fill up with water that way? Can it be pressurized without popping all the Instruments out? Is that insulation rated for the environment? Will a three pin connector plug into a five pin receptacle? Is it rated for operation at the ambient conditions - 120 deg. F in direct intense sunlight? Those are just a few of the questions we have found ourselves dealing with - and it isn't hard to imagine that some of them cost a great deal to correct in the field. And these costs weren't strictly monetary either - we have found ourselves rushing to sites to remediate equipment that was being loaded back onto the trucks both in the U.S. and overseas. If you are managing a complex project that must come off with minimum problems, please contact us to discuss the details. We can provide Inspection and Commissioning Services as a package, ensuring you that the folks that did the Inspection will be responsible for the outcome. More often than not, the costs of Inspection are more than paid back in the radically reduced time required on-site to complete commissioning to the End Users satisfaction. |
