This will be the only job on this Website that was not undertaken by Industrial TroubleShooters, Inc. but we felt that it is demonstrative of our experience there.  The equipment was four Heavy Oil fired Ovens built by George Koch & Sons for Baker Hughes Tubular.  Combustion Equipment was by North American.  The application was not typical of Heavy Oil - with an operating temperature that was very low and therefore requiring an extremely stable Flame Envelope.  The Fuel was another issue - it was solid at room temperature and was cut into blocks with hot shovels and placed in the Storage Tanks!  As delivered from the Refinery, it contained nearly 20% water by volume - and this required several months standing in the Storage Tanks to settle out (specific gravity of this Fuel was .998).  This very frustrating experience prompted the development of our Heavy Oil Fuel Control System which can deal with these problems.

Many lessons learned here, not the least of which was that people from opposite hemispheres can work together under the most frustrating of conditions to find the answers.  A great moment of realization occurred here - the impact of the FAX Machine on U.S./Chinese relations!  Now we have the Internet......
